Welcome everyone to the Westwood Online IGDA Game Development Club. It is our goal to allow students the opportunity to develop games and learn from Alumni and IGDA professionals. All Westwood Online students and Alumni of Game Art, Design and Software Development programs are encouraged to join and participate. This is a great opportunity to not just apply what is being learned in the classroom, but go beyond and experience what developing a game from beginning to end is like.
Club Updates:
New Club Changes:
1/31/12: The member roles have been updated to reflect the new structure, If you are having issues still please report it to damionmccoy@studentemail.westwood.edu. Further we must insist that all member use their school email address this is to make sure members are students or employee of Westwood. Exceptions will be made for industry professionals and alumni that do not have Westwood emails. Those of you that are not using your Westwood email please update this before march 1st, on that day we will clean sweep those that are not using that email, and they will be forced to re-register with their school email. Thank you for your understanding.
1/30/12: At some point in the last year membership roles changed in such a way it left members without access to simple things, like editing there profiles or posts. We are working on fixing these issues using new membership roles, when complete we will update you with any actions you need to take on your part, thank you for your patience.
IGDA Memberships:
1/30/12 This club is an IGDA sanctioned club though you do not have to be a member it is highly recommended. Once a year the school hold a membership drive were your dues are paid with your tuition. This year the IGDA had issues and some students didn’t get their new memberships, If you go to the IGDA website you can become a member on their site free. If you use the same email you used to apply they will automatically apply it to that account. Those of you that haven’t done the drive yet you can still sign up on the website and get limited access for the time being.
Mobile Application Workshop:
1/30/12 This is an amazing offer from the school and will help you what ever level you are, contact your Career Services Adviser for more information.
Enter Conference
If anyone has any questions, thoughts, or concerns about this, please come to me about it so I can get working on this. Thank you.
Another important thing is to record these sessions so that we can refer to them later if someone happens to miss them. I know that I can’t always be online when the meetings are scheduled.
I think this should be coordinated with the Career Management people. They already have life chats and presentations so working together would benefit both sides.
Well guys thank you for the turn out on the new poll. I will contact the career services at Westwood and get some of the information I need to get the ball rolling on this. Again if there is any concerns or questions you have please feel free to contact me or the rest of the officers.

Hello everyone,
So whats going on these days? Any thing new that I can help with or get started on? I have completed the beginning and intermediate c++ classes and am in the middle of the data structures course, I feel pretty comfortable with using c++ but have not really messed with any api’s or sdk’s other than the android sdk but using Java. So anyway if there is something I can do please feel free to contact me about it…

I have been out a will and just want to say I am sorry for that, but I am back. I am looking for anything to do for this club. So, hit me up and I will respond. Thanks.
Want to buy active participants…
I’m a budding 2d/3d artist/gameplay designer (you can see my work on http://mysticwarriordesign.deviantart.com/ ), and would like to work on a small indie project (Angry Birds size), or contribute to a mod. I have limited free time (I work), but would love to do this! Maybe a small simple game with a programmer would be great!
You can reach me best at jones06dj@yahoo.com – I probably won’t see it if you try to reach me here.
Well I just joined the site, sooo what to do
Hello all,
I am new to this world and am not very knowledgeable yet on everything. Starting my first term at Westwood in January. Wanted to drop a hello to you all and extend my New Years wishes, and express to you that I am ready and willing to do what I can for the greater good of us all. Perhaps that isn’t a whole lot at this time, but I am in this for a long haul. Great to be a part of something bigger than myself.

Hey Stick with it buddy like you I joined the game club before I started my first class. We have had some set backs that we are working to over come stick with us and I am sure you will find this club an invaluable resource both for your education in terms of help form students that have taken the same classes as you and in terms of your career by helping you gain experience, grow your network, and help you gain resources that you may not have known about before. For instance there is a magazine called casual connect it has a free subscription and is primarily a mobile gaming industry magazine. This magazine previews the current projects of many companies, gives you profiles, names, and contact information for people in the industry, and keeps you informed on the latest engines API’s, Libs, and more. The best part is it gives you sales figures, how types of games are doing in different markets. This can help you decide what games you should build, and how you can capitalize on them.
Its a bit of a bummer for the online students if you do a live appearance, unless you record it for us onliners to see later. Or maybe set up a webcam.
Every student in this game club is an online student so we understand your consern
Hey everyone Glad to see everyone making it to the website, please forgive some of the out dated material on the website we are working hard to get the site cleaned up and updated and better organized. Thanks for coming if any one has any issues or questions please feel free to email me or any member that has been here a while. In the mean time think about signing up for the schools new mobile game workshop, contact your adviser for details also take advantage now the IGDA group is having issues with their membership process so they have opened up their registration to the public sign up now and start networking.
